March 18, 2013 Sentence of the Week

We did a lot in class today!  We started a new read aloud which promises to be a VERY interesting read.....The book is called The Westing Game.  It sounds similar to the game Clue, since it is a murder mystery.  Our next unit in class is a persuasive unit, so as we read The Westing Game students will take notes on the characters and story line, and before we get to the end of the book, students will have to write a persuasive piece on who they think killed Mr. Westing, detailing why they think that.

Following our read aloud we did our Sentence of the Week.  Sentence of the week will now be on Mondays, then we will practice the skill all week, and on Friday we will take our sentence of the week quiz.  You will be able to use the notes you have taken throughout the week on the quiz.

Finally, our last activity was to work on our biography projects.  At this point you should be close to getting started on your Google drawing.  The completed project will be due on Friday!  We will keep working on these throughout the week but if you are behind you might want to spend some time working on your project at home.
