Dec 5, 2012 Introductory Paragraphs

Today we worked on our leads!  We reviewed what goes into a good introductory paragraph:

• A good lead to grad the readers attention
• An explanatory sentence to let the reader know what the paper will be about
• A thesis statement to tell the reader exactly what you will talk about

Then students shared their leads with partners and narrowed down their three to just one!  Once everyone had their lead we shared with the class and gave suggestions where we could.  

Finally, we finished up by working on our explanatory sentence which I think is hard!  But everyone did really well with this.  We'll finish up our introductory paragraphs by working on our thesis statements tomorrow.
