Today in class we reviewed the homework that was assigned last night. We discussed the different ways that people got know each other online versus over the internet. We then discussed why this article was considered an argumentative article versus a persuasive article.
To further reinforce the concept of persuasive versus argumentative we played a simulation game. Students had to come to the front of the room in pairs, reach into a basket and pull a very random, very odd item out of the basket! One of the students had to persuade the rest of us to buy the object, and the other student had to persuade us not to buy it. The point of the odd objects was so that no one would know what it was, so they would have to use opinions to persuade us, NOT FACTS. Thus showcasing the difference between that and argumentative.
Tomorrow comm arts will be during 1st and 2nd hour and we will have MAPS testing in the afternoon.
