We continued with Touching Spirit Bear today.  We read chapters 13 and 14 (most groups still have a page or two left in chapter 14).  Before we began reading we reviewed what figurative language was and why authors use it in writing.  Some good examples we found while reading were:

• Jail will scar your soul
• You are a bundle of fun
• They made hamburger out of my chest

They really help us to visualize and understand what the author is trying to convey.  

Students completed their response journals and journaled about a topic of their choice.

There will be a sub in class tomorrow where you will continue looking for figurative language in the text and continue reading.  Have a great night!
