Welcome back from break! It seems like forever since we have been in Comm Arts so we opened class by reviewing what our read-aloud, Chasing Lincoln's Killer, was about. After discussing, we read the rest of chapter 2 and into chapter 3. We got to the part in the book where Lincoln is shot by Booth! Everyone was on the edge of their seat! We'll continue reading this later in the week.
This book is a great example of non-fiction and we began our non-fiction unit today in class. We discussed what non-fiction was, where we see it, how it's different from fiction, etc. We also passed out several non-fiction articles which students read and discussed with each other. We went over the different components of the articles such as the title, subtitle, captions, date written, written by, etc.
Tomorrow we will continue this new unit by further examining non-fiction!
