Today in Comm Arts we practiced our Step Up to Writing skills. We reviewed what the different colors meant and how they can help us organize and write an expository paper. To recap:
Green: GO! Tell your reader what your topic is, this is the topic Sentence
Yellow: Slow down and give us a key idea/detail
Red: Stop! Give an example of the key detail you just discussed
Green: Revisit the topic, Go back to the original topic
After reviewing we played an organization game where a bunch of words on the smartboard were all scrambled and students needed to organize them into the order they would appear in a paper (ex: find the green topic sentence, the yellow key topics, and red details about each topic).
Following this activity students paired up and began making their own lists of words to scramble. Tomorrow we will exchange them and attempt to reorganize them.
