First Day of School!

If you are reading this....it means you have survived the first day of school!  Congratulations!  Today in class we went over what supplies you would need to bring to class everyday, what Comm Arts is, and began our read aloud book.

What you need to bring to Comm. Arts class everyday:

• Agenda
• Comm Arts Notebook
• Journal (This may end up being kept in the classroom but know that you need 2 notebooks for this class)
• Comm Arts Folder
• Writing utensil

Comm Arts may sound strange to some of you since you are used to having a separate Reading and Writing class or perhaps just a Language Arts class.  Comm. Arts combines Reading and Writing which is why you have the same teacher two hours in a row for those classes.

During class we discussed what should be on our "CARE Agreement".  The CARE Agreement is a contract signed by the students that outlines our house's code of conduct.  We also began our current read aloud book Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen.  We read chapter one which was told entirely from the main character Bryce's perspective, narrated by myself.  What can I say, the kids were riveted!  It was so great to meet all of you and based on how today went it should be a great year!
