I was happy to see that everyone made it back for day two! Some housekeeping things...we will post the Daily Homework for all classes here or the link can be found to the right under Helpful links.
We continued our read aloud today, Flipped, as well as our discussion on figurative language and why authors may choose to use it in a text. Mrs. Forsberg narrated chapter 2 which told the same story as chapter 1, but from Julianna's perspective instead of Bryce's.
We also signed our House CARE Agreement which can be found here. The students taped these in their agendas so that they remember to follow these good practices at all times.
Since the CARE Agreement represents how we want the students in our house to act and treat others it was a perfect segue into discussing our house name. We talked about how when people hear our house name it makes them think of something, so our name should mean something. Students brainstormed a list of potential names that were then voted on to find the top four.
Finally we made sure everyone had the necessary supplies for Comm Arts. One notebook was labeled Comm Arts and the other notebook was labeled Journal. Remember your journal notebook will always be kept in class. If you still need any supplies be sure to bring them for class tomorrow (see post below for supply list).
Tomorrow in class we will be discussing writing territories and how to brainstorm a list of potential writing topics so start thinking about topics you may want to one day make a journal entry about....happy thinking!
