Today was all about reading strategies! Using the reading strategies bookmarks that everyone so creatively made....we practiced using reading strategies while listening to our read aloud book Flipped. Students joined our online chat on the Today's Meet website where they would type their thoughts, predictions, connections to the book, etc, along with the rest of the class. It's a great way to have thoughts flowing while still maintaining a quiet listening environment. It was awesome to see everyone's predictions and connections!
We also had DEAR time where students chose a reading strategy to practice while reading their independent books and wrote a Readers Response in their Comm Arts notebook.
Tomorrow we will begin looking at a reading series where we will continue to practice using these reading skills to make us better readers!
